From January 14 to 15, a delegation of six, led by Mr. Gu Wenhua, Director of the UNESCO World Heritage Training and Research Centre for the Asia and the Pacific (WHITRAP) Suzhou Centre, visited Yancheng. The delegation engaged in in-depth discussions with the Yancheng Wetland and Natural World Heritage Conservation and Management Center on key topics including the sustainable utilization of World Heritage, youth education, and international cooperation and exchange. The two parties reached consensus on multiple fronts and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on World Heritage Cooperation. This collaboration not only marks the first in-depth partnership between the two regions in the field of World Heritage but also serves as a model for cross-regional and interdisciplinary cooperation and exchange in World Heritage conservation.

During their stay in Yancheng, Director Gu Wenhua and the delegation conducted field inspections of the Yancheng World Heritage site and several demonstration projects. These included the 720 High-Tide Habitat, the 10,000-mu Saunders’s Gull Breeding Ground, the Chuanshuiwan Ecological Restoration Area, and the Jianchuan Bird-friendly Breeding Base.
