On August 15, the final of the 2026 Approach Science, Explore Nature Jiangsu Forestry Science-Popularization Explanation Contest took place in Nanjing, co-hosted by Jiangsu Provincial Forestry Bureau and Jiangsu Association for Science and Technology.
Gao Qianwen, a nature lecturer from the Yellow Sea Wetland Museum, claimed first place with the highest provincial score for her presentation Magical Nature: Secrets Hidden in Eggs. Playing the role of a wetland “egg-identifier”, she transformed the stage into a mobile wetland classroom using bird-egg models and habitat backdrops of reed beds, seepweed wetlands and grasslands. Her accessible science sharing won the loudest applause at the event.
At the concurrent “Forests Are Fascinating” themed market, the Yancheng World Heritage Centre ran an exhibition booth for the Yancheng Yellow Sea Wetland World Natural Heritage Site. Illustrated panels, creative souvenirs, brochures and eco-products demonstrated conservation outcomes of the China Yellow-Bohai Sea Migratory Bird Habitat and boosted its public profile.
Popular with contestants and Nanjing residents, the booth drew many children who actively learned about migratory birds and wetland protection. It helped cultivate public environmental awareness, expanded the wetland’s influence and brought it to broader public attention.
