Patrol ranger Li Dongming, known as the "Spoon-billed Sandpiper Specialist", recorded 11 spoon-billed sandpipers staying here for summer, including three fledglings from banded adults M8, C2 and 2T.

Spoon-billed sandpipers are long-distance migrants. They fly north to Siberian tundra to breed from March to June, then head south from July. Non-breeding individuals often linger at Yancheng through summer to rest and moult.
