To celebrate the 10th Cultural and Natural Heritage Day on June 13, the event “World Heritage Wetland Classroom, Grow Together Through Ecological Conservation” took place at the Yancheng Yellow Sea Wetland Museum.
Organized by Yancheng Wetland and Natural World Heritage Conservation & Management Center, the gathering brought together government officials, experts, educators, students and local visitors. Speakers highlighted the outstanding ecological significance of the Yancheng Yellow Sea Wetland — China’s first coastal World Natural Heritage site — and urged the public to join hands in its protection.
Li Xiang from popular science brand Hunzhi delivered a lively sharing session, using comics to vividly illustrate wetland knowledge, migratory bird routes and wildlife conservation. A five-day, four-night summer study camp was jointly launched, equipped with custom comic guidebooks for participants. The museum also unveiled its new cultural and creative products to promote wetland culture.
The first cohort of officially certified wetland study tour instructors was officially announced. Additionally, Yancheng launched its first Spoon-billed Sandpiper School, a joint initiative to promote bird conservation and nature education on campus.
Supplementary activities such as in-museum heritage tours and knowledge quizzes were also held to engage the public. Going forward, Yancheng will continue to diversify nature education programs, inspiring more people, especially the younger generation, to safeguard this valuable world wetland heritage.
